Chili Cook-Off Update

We enjoyed a beautiful day on Saturday at the Doghouse Drinkery enjoying the chili cook-off! It was crazy busy, they had such a good turn out! Honestly the only reason I entered a chili was because I was afraid they wouldn't have enough contestants sign up, but they had nearly 30 people! All said and done $1,254 was raised for the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.

I entered a vegan chili (even though I'm not vegan) because I wanted to do something different. I had some good comments on it (Except for the one woman who snapped at me, saying, "I only eat meat!" before storming off.) but I should have known that deep in the heart of Texas people want meat in their chili. I'll remember for next time!

While we were there we got to meet Freddy's "twin" Captain Picard. They aren't related but look so much alike and played so similarly! Freddy is larger than Picard (17 pounds to Picard's 11 pounds) but their coloring is a lot alike. I always find it fascinating when we find mutts that look alike. Special thanks, again, to Olga from Doggieville Boutique for making Freddy his special chili pepper bandana to wear. He had so many compliments!

There will be a BBQ cook off on March 12th that will benefit the Don't Bully Me Rescue of Austin. We'll be out of town so we'll have to miss this one. Sad face!
